Amazon India seller fees: what you keep per order

How a referral fee is set
Amazon India charges a referral fee as a percentage of the selling price, including GST. The percentage depends on the category and the item price band. A closing fee per item sold, set by price band and fulfilment channel, also applies, and so does a weight handling fee for shipping. 18% GST applies to all Amazon fees displayed.

A worked example (Sample data)
A ₹599 face wash. The price is the example's; the fee rates are the fee page's.
Referral fee: 9% × ₹599 = ₹53.9.
GST on the fee: 18%, which is ₹9.7. Total to Amazon for the referral fee: ₹63.6.
Haircare or makeup at ₹599 pays ₹0 referral fee. The closing fee is set by price band and fulfilment method; enter yours in the planner. Face serum is not in the categories read, so confirm your category in Seller Central.
How to work out what you keep
The formula in words:
Revenue = selling price (including GST) × (1 − return rate)
Gross profit = revenue − cost of goods
CM1 = gross profit − referral fee − closing fee − shipping − return handling
CM2 = CM1 − the cost of getting the customer (for example sponsored product ads)

What is the Amazon India referral fee for beauty products?
It depends on the subcategory and the item price. Face wash, moisturizer cream, sunscreen, deodorants, fragrance and luxury beauty pay 0% up to ₹500; haircare, bath and shower and makeup pay 0% up to ₹1,000. Above that the fee is 6.5%–14% by subcategory, for example face wash and moisturizer 9% for ₹500–1,000 and 9.5% above ₹1,000; haircare 8%; makeup 7%; fragrance 14% for ₹500–1,000 and 10% above.
Does Amazon India charge GST on referral fees?
Yes. 18% GST applies to all Amazon fees displayed. On a referral fee of ₹53.9 the GST is ₹9.7 and the total is ₹63.6. Ask your accountant whether you can claim it back for your registration.
What is a closing fee?
A fee per item sold, set by price band and fulfilment channel. For example, a fulfilment centre charges ₹27 for items of ₹0–300 in select categories, and a Self-Ship face wash at ₹299 pays ₹20. The shipping fee is called the weight handling fee.
